I have decided to start a new adventure in my life and that is to enter the blogging world! Before I begin, I'd like to introduce myself!
My name is Amy Banas and I'm in my 6th (going on 7th) year of teaching music. I currently teach in Glenview, IL at Westbrook Elementary School grades K-2. I have been in Glenview for the past 4 years and have taught general music, drama, and next year will be teaching a couple classes of life skills. Throughout my time in Glenview I have grown a passion for technology and recently finished my Masters Degree in Technology in Education. In my classroom I have a SMART Board, 8 iPod Touches and every child in my school has their own iPad (1:1 environment). Next year our entire district will be going 1:1. I have seen how technology has enhanced my teaching and my students learning.
Outside of teaching, I'm married to the most wonderful guy in the world, David. We met in college, we both play trumpet and sat next to each other in orchestra and band for all 4 years. (band geek love!). He is also a music teacher in Schaumburg, IL and teaches 1-6 (multi-age) general music and band lessons and helps out with the after school band and orchestra. It's wonderful with both of us being music teachers because we share ideas constantly and are always helping each other out. He also has me upload some of his items in my TpT store!
Last year we had our first son, Theodore (Teddy) who was born on his Daddy's birthday! He is the happiest little boy I know and has brought so much happiness and joy into our lives. I'm even MORE grateful for the time that I will get to spend with my favorite boys during the summer!
I hope you find this blog helpful and informative and while technology can be scary, it is my hopes to provide you with lesson ideas, and tips and tricks for incorporating technology into your classroom.
Thanks for reading!
